Ubuntu Phone OS Headed To Market This Year

Following their wildly successful launch of Ubuntu for Android devices, Ubuntu has announced their plans for a full scale mobile OS today. The new OS will be built using existing Android kernels and drivers, and promises that manufacturers will be able to make it run on their devices without too much adaptation. Ubuntu promises several features at launch to help better distinguish it’s devices from those of competitors. Gestures will play a huge part in interacting with the device, with a major emphasis being placed on having all types of content displayed with a simple swiping gesture. In addition to gestures, Ubuntu will have voice commands built in, and available in any application.
