Sprint has recently been ahead of the curve when it comes to handset selection, starting with it’s introduction of the world’s first 4G phone. The HTC Evo 4G was a highly popular phone which, at release was almost impossible to find thanks to, in part to a large list of reserves. The minute the phone became available it would literally be sold out. Now a few years later, Sprint again has prepared to change the world of phones by introducing the world to the first 3D phone. When you think of 3D what usually comes to mind?? 3D glasses, headaches, and really cheesy movies. Well let me introduce you to the HTC Evo 3D (no glasses required).  This phone will again change the landscape of the phone industry, and more companies will implement 3D technology as the world moves further into 3D content.

Looking at the Evo 3D at first glance you might think that it’s the exact same phone, but upon closer inspection you will notice many differentiators from its predecessor. To start the Evo 3D has a 4.3” 3D qHD display (960×540). Under the hood of the Evo 3D lays a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that will breeze through almost anything you can push at it and 4GB of rom. The Evo 3D has two 5 megapixel rear cameras with dual flash for capturing 3D pictures and video and a 1.3 megapixel front facing cam for video chat and self-portraits. The charging port of the Evo 3D is on the top right side of the phone, which allows you to dock the device and still watch your favorite movies and videos. The same port can be used as an HDMI out to share videos and pictures on your tv. There is a switch on the lower left side of the phone that allows you to toggle between 2D and 3D video and pictures.

The HTC Evo 3D comes preloaded with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and runs Sense3.0. The first thing you will notice about Sense 3.0 is the customizable lock screen, which allows you to go to the home screen or jump directly into one of four apps of your choice. This is done by either moving a ring up to the center of the screen, or by pulling one of the apps down into the ring. Once at the home screen you will notice that once you scroll through all available pages the screens will continue to rotate in a 3D carousel. The phone comes standard with an 8GB memory card and is expandable to up to 32GB. So there is plenty of room for gaming, movie and music storage.

So do you think you are ready for 3D? Sprint is really pushing the envelope with this phone, and if you enjoyed the HTC EVO 4G then brace yourself for the power of the EVO 3D in stores now for $199 with 2 year agreement, or $549.99 without.
