Mister Sinister Will Appear In Wolverine 3
2 min readSome pretty huge Marvel news was unearthed earlier today thanks to ComingSoon.Net. After listening to an audio commentary track from ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, it was discovered that writer/producer Simon Kinberg and director Bryan Singer confirmed a pretty big easter egg from the post scene credits. Viewers were left confused by the appearance of “Essex Corp” and their relevance to the Marvel Universe. For casual fans, this could be an easily dismissable clue. For the Marvel faithful we know that Essex Corp belongs to one of the most powerful villains the X-Men have encountered, Mister Sinister.
Nathaniel Essex founded Essex Corp, with the goal of researching Charles Darwin’s theories. Through several unethical practices and experiments, he finds himself exiled, losing everything in the process. Bitter and vengeful, Essex makes a pact with Apocalypse and in return Apocalypse grants him immortality and several mutant abilities. Mister Sinister plays an incredible role in Marvel’s universe for several reasons, the biggest being his hand in creating Cyclops son Nathan, who grows up to be the time traveling Mutant buster, Cable. Sinister also has ties to another famous X-Man in Gambit, who will also be hitting the big screen fairly soon.
It’s also been confirmed that Wolverine’s former running buddies, Weapon X and the rogue group The Reavers will make an appearance in Wolverine 3 as well. With all this going on, there’s no telling how large or small Mister Sinister’s role will be. I’m hoping that we start to see a bit on continuity with Fox’s Marvel films since Sinister created Cable, and Cable has been confirmed as a character in Deadpool 2. There’s also a possibility that Fox goes way left field and makes Mister Sinister the leader of The Reavers or Weapon X in a plan to eliminate Wolverine from existence. Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine for the final time with this film, so here’s hoping they send him off with a bang.
