1980's Watchmen

Famed producer Damon Lindelof will once again call HBO his home. Just a few weeks shy of the series finale of his excellent series The Leftovers, Lindelof is said to be in talks to produce a new series for HBO. This time, he will take charge in developing a brand new ‘Watchmen’ series for the network.

This isn’t the first time that a Watchmen series has been in development though. Back in 2014, HBO tried to get a series featuring the Watchmen developed, only for it to never see the light of day. Now, Lindelof will bring a new vision of the superhero team to the small screen. This new adaption is said to be based on an entirely new universe, separate from Zach Snyder’s movie universe.

The Watchmen are a team of superheroes who helped alter the course of history starting with Vietnam, and the presidency of Richard Nixon. The main plot takes place in the 1980’s after one of their own ends up dead, and a superhero witch hunt ensues. The remaining members Rorschach, The Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, and Doctor Manhattan are left to piece things together, all while avoiding persecution themselves.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the movie, but I am excited to see how the TV adaption turns out.
