Fortnite Is Getting A 20-On-20-On-20-On-20-On-20 Mode

2 min read

Fortnite is about to get a whole lot more interesting. Epic Games announced that they will be updating Fortnite to include an all new 20v20v20v20v20 mode. Yes, you read that correctly. There will be 5 teams of 20 squaring off, in what promises to be the most hectic game mode yet. The new mode will work just like any other squad based mode, where teams will face off and blast each other into oblivion, until the all other teams have been eliminated.

The game mode will only be available for a limited time, so players should hop on before it’s too late. It’ll be interesting to see if people join matches with other players, or try to squad up with 20 friends for the ultimate challenge in co-op gaming.

In a new blog post, Epic went on to say, “We’ve been hammering away at Limited Time Modes! Getting you multiple playlists (solo, duo and squads) during LTMs is at the top of the priority stack. We’ve been using multiple data points (including your feedback) to iterate our existing LTM’s and to build brand new LTM’s. We are planning to quickly spin up a dozen or so LTMs, some of these may be more straightforward (e.g. along the lines of Sniper Shootout, Sneaky Silencer etc.). We also use LTMs to test new Shooting Models. From there, we want to make internal improvements so we can introduce more involved LTMs (e.g. “floor is lava”).

The new 5 teams of 20 mode won’t be the only new addition to the free-to-play game though, as Epic has also announced a slew of new modes headed our way soon. These modes will include:

  • Blitz Mode (shorter matches!)
  • Drop into the first circle
  • Generally less time between circles
  • Team sizes in between 50v50 and squads
  • 50v50 v2
    • Closer to the 50v50 Trailer experience
    • Split to start
    • Converge on Battle
    • Bus for each team
    • See all your squadmates on the map
    • More supply drops

All of this mayhem sounds absolutely incredible, and I can’t wait to check it out in-game. The first update is scheduled to roll out as of March 8th, with more modes dropping shortly after. Players will also soon see new items available in-game along with high-powered weapons, and new power-ups to give you a much-needed advantage on the battlefield. Check out the reveal trailer below!
