Someone Finally Leaked The Pixel 3

2 min read

After suffering dozens and dozens of leaks, the Google Pixel XL 3 finally has something to celebrate. That celebration? The fact that it wasn’t the subject of another leak. No, this time, the Pixel XL’s smaller counterpart, the Pixel 3 has finally shown up thanks to yet another leak. The Pixel has been conspicuously absent from a wave of Google centered leaks until today. A poster on Reddit revealed a full photo spread, along with device specs, highlighting what we can expect from Google’s next Pixel event.

Honestly, there’s no real surprises here. As expected, the phone will sport a larger 5.5 inch display, with an aspect ratio of 2:1 and a resolution of 2160 x 1080. It’ll also rock a 440 ppi display density and a 60 hz frame rate. It’ll also have a dual 8MP camera setup much like the larger Pixel XL 3, 4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 845 processor. The biggest disappointment here, is the considerably smaller battery, which clocks in at 2,915 mAh.

Another huge difference between the two models, is the lack of a notch on the smaller Pixel 3. Instead, the bezels on the display will be shrunk (not forgone), and will still include stereo speakers. Another interesting piece of information here, is that the poster revealed they were testing the device for another carrier. While this carrier remains unnamed, this could mean that the Verizon Wireless exclusivity on Pixel devices could be coming to an end this year.

All in all, these are some very interesting pieces of information leaking ahead of the Google event in October. I’m very interested to see exactly how Google handles the unprecedented amount of leaks surrounding their flagship phones this year. I’m also curious if there will truly be any more surprises left in store, or if we’ll know all of the cards Google is holding before they hit the stage this Fall.
