Cody Rhodes To Feature In AEW’s First Match On TNT
2 min readWe know the date, we know the time and know we know the wrestlers who’ll star in the first televised match for AEW. The upstart wrestling promotion announced today that Cody Rhodes will face Sammy Guevara in AEW’s first match on TNT. The two will square off against each other in the premiere match for AEW’s still-unnamed weekly wrestling program set to air on October 2nd. Cody and Sammy will undoubtedly look to tear the house down, as they get to be the first men featured in what will surely be a highly anticipated event.

Cody serves as an Executive Vice President in the company in addition to being a member of the AEW active roster. It makes sense for him, or the Young Bucks or Kenny Omega to be the debut acts on the new show. What’s also interesting, is that Cody is embroiled in a pretty heated feud with another former WWE talent, Shawn Spears (FKA Tye Dillinger). This could be the perfect place to set the tone and pacing of AEW action, considering the two already set the internet on fire after Spears hit Cody with an unprotected chair shot at their last PPV.
Either way, October can’t come soon enough, as AEW will look to steal some of WWE’s audiences away.
AEW’s weekly wrestling program will air Wednesdays on TNT starting October 2nd at 7:30 PM.
