Andy Serkis Signs On To Direct ‘Venom 2’

2 min read

Yes, you read that correctly. The voice behind everyone’s favorite stoor hobit is jumping back into the MCU. After a few movie stints as Ulysses Klau, Andy Serkis will now step behind the camera to direct Venom 2. Serkis will helm the sequel to the Tom Hardy led Marvel film after a wildly successful feature film hit theaters back in 2018.

‘Venom’ told a new origin story for Marvel’s most popular symbiote minus the central character of Spider-Man. Tom Hardy played an excellent Eddie Brock, and the story made just enough sense to not completely ruin the franchise. In fact, I’d go so far as to say the first movie was EASILY the best depiction of Venom we’ve seen in a Marvel movie so far. With the surprise ending of the first film, there’s definitely room for the sequel to be even better.

With Serkis’ incredible acting mind, I’d expect to see him take full advantage of both Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson (Google it) in this next film. We know Serkis and Harrelson have experience playing really dark characters, and if the next step in the franchise is introducing Carnage, then they definitely have the right pieces in play.

While details about ‘Venom 2’ are highly scarce at the moment, this is a really big deal for the sequel. Serkis even took to his personal Instagram page to express his excitement around the project.

There’s been no official word on a date for the second film, but I’d imagine it’ll drop sometime in 2020.

Stay tuned…
