After a wildly eventful Presidential debate between former President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, pop culture icon Taylor Swift took to Instagram to express her thoughts.
In a post that has since amassed more than 8 million likes, Swift wanted to clarify that she would support the Harris/Walz ticket in the 2024 election. After a false AI-generated post circulated fabricating her support for Donald Trump, Swift took to social media to make it clear who she’d be voting for in the November election.
In this election, women’s reproductive rights and the right to control medical decisions about their bodies have taken center stage. Taylor Swift is a major artistic voice and her support of the Harris/Walz ticket cannot be understated. She’s been outspoken about issues affecting women and even closed her post with “childless cat lady,” a direct reference to a gaffe made by Vice President hopeful JD Vance.
As it stands, polls show both candidates locked into a near-dead heat amongst voters. The biggest difference makers in this year’s election will undoubtedly be those voters are undecided and women voters, specifically. With Taylor Swift’s massive reach, one has to assume this will serve as a boom for Harris’ chances, but only time will tell what the real impact of this endorsement will be.
