Apple Event Live Blog
3 min readToday is the day guys! Apple is slated to finally unveil the latest offering in their iPhone family, a new iPad (iPad Pro anyone?), along with a brand new Apple TV. You can check back right here for all the latest bits and pieces from the announcement as it happens. I’m most looking forward to the iPad Pro myself, and with that being said, let’s dive right in!!
Sorry folks we’re joining a bit late, but here’s the latest from Apple’s event!
Apple announced the iPad Pro. A 12.9” powerhouse of a device. It rocks the all new A9X chip, with 2x the bandwidth and storage performance of the last gen chip. It also boasts 10 hour battery life, and console level GPU for those gamers out there.
The Apple Pencil (terrible name guys) is essentially Apple’s answer to Samsung’s S Pen, only done right. It has a unique “tip signature” that allows the Apple Pencil to be used simultaneously with your finger, along with a lightning adapter on the end that plugs directly into the iPad Pro for recharging.
The iPad Pro will be available starting in November, and will start at $799. There will also be a new iPad Mini 4 which will be thinner and faster than the last model and will start at $499.
Tim Cook is on stage to talk about Apple TV. He says Apple believes the future of television is apps. He thinks the biggest things TV needs is powerful hardware, a modern OS, a new user experience, developer tools and of course an app store.
Now we’re cutting to a video package introducing the new Apple TV. Siri plays a heavy role in this new model, and it’s showcasing everything. Movies, games, tv shows. all controlled with your voice.
Siri will now search iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, and Showtime to find all your favorite content all in one central place. Demo shows us how Siri can search for specific content, featuring a specific star, and even navigate through your show for you. The new remote is also pretty awesome. It features a glass touch sensor that allows for even easier navigation, and access to info and settings.
Wow…. Apple TV is getting a version of RockBand. That’s pretty rad.
32GB for $149 or 64GB model for $199, Apple TV Dev Kit available starting today, and will go on sale in October.
Tim Cook is back on stage, and it is iPhone time!!!
iPhone 6 was Apple’s most popular iPhone ever. Sales and repertory wise….
They’re calling it the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus…. But you already knew that. Big tagline. “The only thing that’s changed is everything.”
3D Touch is essentially Force Touch for the iPhone. It’s introduction brings with it two new features that Apple is calling “peek and pop”. Phil Schiller just slipped and called it Force Touch. Awesome.
3D Touch demo is pretty boss. There’s a 3D shooter on the screen and the controls are like analog stick butter smooth.
On the inside of the 6S is a new A9 processor and M9 coprocessor for better graphics and motion tracking. There’s a new 12MP iSight camera. Some of the picture that Apple is showcasing right now is absolutely insane! The resolution on this thing is amazing, like seriously awesome. Low light photos are pretty solid too, thanks to the new sensor which allows more light into the frame and gives all you amateur photographers more sharpness and clarity than ever before. The iSight camera also allows for 4K video recording, which on an iPhone, could be pretty impressive.
New iPhone launches September 25th, with preorders starting September 12th.
