10 Best WWE Royal Rumble Moments

6 min read

Tonight is one of my personal favorite nights on the WWE calendar. Tonight, is the night where we get to see the road to Wrestlemania clearly illuminated, and is easily one of the most fun events we’ll get to see all year. Of course I could only be talking about the Royal Rumble.

What is the Royal Rumble? In its simplest terms the Rumble is a 30 entrant Battle Royal where elimination can only occur when one competitor tosses another over the top rope, and both feet touch the floor. The prize for winning? A shot at the most prestigious title in the wrestling industry, at the biggest wrestling show in the industry, Wrestlemania. Over the years, the Royal Rumble has gone from a fairly simple concept match to arguably one of the most important events in the company’s history. Not only does it directly impact who the future World Champion will be, but it’s also used as a launching pad for several secondary rivalries heading into Wrestlemania. Here, I take a stroll through memory lane and provide 10 of the best moments from Royal Rumble history.

1.) Ric Flair Wins The Rumble

The year was 1992, and the WWE found itself in a very odd place. They were without a champion, and with one man having a clear claim to the title, the Royal Rumble was held to name a new champ. After entering the Rumble at the #3 spot, Flair was able to outlast 29 other men to lay claim to the top prize in the business all within a year of leaving WCW for the then WWF. After his victory, he proceeded to cut the most epic promo in Rumble history.
