AT&T Adding Rollover Data To Prepaid Plans

2 min read

Beginning May 15th, AT&T GoPhone customers with smartphones will be finally getting something they’ve been asking for: Rollover Data.

It’s been awhile since AT&T’s GoPhone system got a major overhaul, and while this isn’t necessarily reinventing the wheel, it’s a great addition. For those not necessarily looking to sign a contract, or pay installments on a phone, this is a pretty big deal as you know get essentially the same benefits as postpaid customers, for a lower price.

Once the program begins, customers on the $60 or $45 smartphone GoPhone plans will begin to be able to accumulate Rollover Data, which will be usable for 30 days. Check out the press release below for full program details:

Starting on May 15, AT&T GoPhone customers who sign up for the $60 & $45 monthly plans are eligible to roll over their monthly unused high-speed* plan data for 30 days, as long as they renew their plan on time.  Existing customers will be eligible for Rollover Data on their next renewal after May 15. A smartphone is required for data usage at high-speed.

With no annual contract and no credit check, Rollover Data provides yet another benefit to our AT&T GoPhone customers.

For example – a customer signs up for an AT&T GoPhone $60 plan on May 16, 2015, and he or she uses only 2.5 GB of the 4GB high-speed data available with the monthly plan. When the customer renews their $60 plan on June 16, 2015, they will have 4GB high-speed plan data +1.5GB high-speed Rollover Data to use over the next 30 days.

Reinforced by AT&T, which has the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network and the nation’s strongest LTE signal*, both the $$60 and $45 GoPhone plans include:

  • Unlimited data usage 1
  • Unlimited nationwide talk and text, including unlimited text to Mexico, Canada and over 100 countries
  • Unlimited calling to Mexico from the U.S.2
  • Wi-Fi hotspot capability3

*Reliability based on nationwide carriers’ 4G LTE. Signal strength claim based ONLY on average 4G LTE signal strength for national carriers.

Rollover DataSM: Unused high-speed data (or 3G speeds on basic/messaging phones) from your monthly plan allowance rounds up to the nearest MB & carries over for one 30-day renewal period. Unused Rollover Data automatically expires after one renewal period, if your account is canceled, or with any plan change (such as changing data amounts or balance expiration). Rollover Data is used after your monthly high-speed plan allowance or any data package.

1Monthly plans available for basic/messaging phones and smartphones.  Basic/messaging phones are capable of 2G and 3G speeds only. Data usage exceeding the high-speed data allowance will result in reduced data speeds of up to 128kbps for the rest of the 30-day term. Actual speeds vary by device and location.

2Available on $60 plan only.  Unlimited Calling to Mexico: Includes long distance voice calls from the US to Mexico only. Calls to special and premium services may be blocked. Service cannot be resold or used for fraudulent purposes. Usage and other restrictions apply.

3 Smartphone required.
