BlackBerry All Set To Release Android Powered Handset

2 min read

I had no idea that BlackBerry still had a bit of fight in them. I was all but ready to write them off, and fully expected them to go the way of the dinosaur a la Palm. If The Verge is correct though, BlackBerry not only has a little more life left, but they could also be about to release their best handset since the BlackBerry Bold. According to famed device leaker EvLeaks, there is a device in the works, that’s codenamed Venice and is allegedly headed towards AT&T. The Venice will sport a fairly large screen, and a curved display similar to the one found on the Galaxy S 6 Edge. The most interesting piece about this phone isn’t the design, but rather the operating system powering it. The Venice is pictured running an unnamed version of Android, which means ALL of Google’s apps and frameworks will be available here.

Now, I’ve long wished BlackBerry would make a move towards relativity again. If this pans out, I’d have to imagine that they’d be right back at the top of the smartphone food chain. Imagine a device as powerful as the Galaxy S6 or the LG G4, with access to the same apps and ecosystem, conjoined with BlackBerry’s security and email suite. That has all the markings for a killer device that’s damn near perfect. I don’t know about you, but I’d buy one without hesitation. Check out the hi-res image below, and let us know if you’d get one in the comments!
