During this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Bray Wyatt revealed a startling new direction for his character. During his “Fire Fly Funhouse” segment, Wyatt talked about having a big secret to share with everyone, and it was a mighty secret indeed. He transformed into another alter ego of his, which ended up being his most terrifying incarnation yet. The outfit looked like a demonic clown, and it comes complete with an insanely scary clown mask. This mask in particular looks like it could be subtly influenced by another famous psychopath though.
During the New 52 run of DC Comics, everyone’s favorite clown prince, The Joker pulled off one of the most insane transformations ever. He intentionally got himself captured by Batman, and thrown into Arkham Asylum. There, he met another villain by the name of Doll Maker, who helps Joker cut off his own face. From there, Joker plans his escape and pins his face to his cell wall, signifying a “rebirth” of sorts. He then starts to plot out a murderous revenge tour, one that would see him target every member of the Bat-clan. He eventually ends up killing Jason Todd and sending Batman into a blinding rage.
So why am I comparing Bray Wyatt to The Joker? Well, it’s pretty simple. During that story arc, Joker disappeared for a full year before he resurfaced. Bray Wyatt had been out of action for around 8 months, before returning with Fire Fly Funhouse. Both characters have mentioned the need for a “rebirth” and Bray had been teasing this on Twitter for quite sometime. The main reason though, is mainly because I think it’d be super awesome to see him terrorize the Universal Champ Seth Rollins, much like Joker did Batman in the comics.
What do you think of Bray’s new look?
