Deadpool Short “No Good Deed” Hypes Upcoming Sequel

Reynolds as Deadpool

If you thought the anticipation for the Deadpool sequel couldn’t get any higher, think again. Ryan Reynolds just took to YouTube to release the first of what I’m sure will be many Deadpool 2 teasers. The short debuted during the opening weekend for another R-Rated Marvel film, Logan.

In it, we get to see plenty of the comedic genius we’ve come to appreciate from Deadpool. There appears to be a crime in progress and Deadpool springs into action. Well, sort of. Playing up the anti-hero theme, Deadpool spends a considerable amount of time inside of phone booth. There’s totally a nod to classic Superman here, but that’s what makes Deadpool so great. He’s the complete antithesis of your traditional superhero.

The first Deadpool film was a massive success due to the cast and crew not being afraid of turning the big budget superhero movie genre on its head. Instead of Relying solely on star power and over the top cinematography, Deadpool relies on dark humor and gore. Ryan Reynolds truly shines as Wade Wilson, and you can tell it’s a role he was quite possibly born to play.

The sequel may be forced to essentially reinvent the wheel again though thanks to the departure of Director, Tim Miller. Citing creative differences between himself and Ryan Reynolds, Miller stepped down as director leaving a cloud of uncertainty around the film. Just when it looked as if they wouldn’t find a good enough replacement, John Wick 2 director, David Leitch took the reigns. Leitch may very well be the best missing piece though, as Deadpool is very heavy on the action scenes, and he is very good with creating them.

Cable, a time traveling assassin is also expected to debut in Deadpool 2. So there’s that.

Check out the Deadpool short, “No Good Deed” above and let me know your thoughts in the comments!
