Fortnite For Android Won’t Be Available In The Google Play Store

1 min read

After enjoying a massively successful launch on iTunes a few months ago, Epic Games’ Fortnite will soon be available on Android devices. The insanely popular game will be available “later this Summer,” but surprisingly, you won’t be able to download it through the Google Play Store. Instead, you’ll simply go to the Epic Games website, to activate the launcher which will then prompt you to download the game.

According to Epic Games’ CEO Tim Sweeney, the goal is to bring their games directly to customers. There is no better way to accomplish that than to make gamers download the game directly from Epic. While they’re bypassing the Google Play Store, they won’t be able to dodge Google taking their cut from each download.

Interestingly enough, Fortnite will also launch as an exclusive along with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Early buyers of the Note 9 will be gifted V-Bucks, Skins, and exclusive in-game content. Fortnite will also come preloaded on the device, so there’ll be no worry about having to download it.

Looks like if you’re an Android user, the Note 9 is the way to go to score Fortnite on your device. If not, you’ll be waiting until at least September to get your hands on it. Either way, Epic Games and Fortnite will continue their dominance in the gaming space for the foreseeable future.
