It’s been a long time since we got anything of substance surrounding the eighth and final season of Game Of Thrones. That all changed tonight during the premiere episode of True Detective. Leading into the show, fans were treated to a short teaser trailer from season 8 of Game Of Thrones. The trailer perfectly encapsulating exactly what’s at stake in the final season.
In it, we see three of the remaining Stark children navigating through the family’s crypt back in Winterfell. Jon Snow, Arya, and Sansa are all on the same path, their journey narrated by the patriarchs of the family. As the trio reaches their destination, they are met by new statues, ones that resemble themselves. After they realize the symbolism behind these new statues, we see an ever familiar frost rolling through the halls of the crypts, freezing everything it touches.
This could be very clever foreshadowing, spelling the end of the Stark family as we know it. Conspicuous by his absence is perhaps the most powerful Stark, Bran. While we don’t know of his fate just yet, we do have a strong hunch that he’ll play a very pivotal role in the conclusion of the conflict at hand.
Check out the first teaser trailer below, and get ready to witness the most intense battles yet, as the show returns on April 14th.
