Ghost In The Shell

One of Japan’s most popular manga titles ever is about to get the big screen treatment in early 2017. Ghost in the Shell, is the story of a cybernetically enhanced human called the Major, and her quest to stop high level cyber criminals. The franchise originally appeared in Japan in 1989, and has since spawned several spin-offs and adaptations. The most recent adaptation was an animated film titled ‘Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie’ and received generally positive reviews.

The live action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell seen its own fair share of setbacks, with several personnel and studio changes causing the film to be delayed. The film also initially faced backlash from fans who accused the studio of “White Washing”, due to the lead character being played by a caucasian actress instead of a Japanese actress. Now that all that’s been sorted out, we’ll finally see the big screen version we’ve all been waiting for, or so we hope.

Scarlett Johanssen is all set to play The Major, leader of the Section 9 cyber criminal task force. The Major and the rest of Section 9 are tasked with stopping a hacker from stealing artificial intelligence info from Hanka Corp. Michael Pitt has been cast to play the movie’s main villain, the full-on cyborg Kuze, a member of The Individual Eleven.
