Riding the wave of popularity Pokemon GO still enjoys to this day, Sony has decided to throw their hat into the AR gaming space. To coincide with the announcement of Google’s ARCore gaming kit, Sony will also be co-producing a new Ghostbusters AR game for iOS and Android. The game will be developed in a partnership between Sony Pictures and game developer 4:33. It will feature the latest in AR technology, while also integrating a skill based system for capturing ghosts. The game will be called ‘Ghostbusters World’ and will undoubtedly feature gameplay centered around capturing as many ghosts as possible.
Ghostbusters World gameplay will enable players to battle and capture hundreds of ghosts from all dimensions of the franchise, including the films, TV shows, comic books, theme parks, and video games. The game will also feature new and unique ghosts to the franchise. “The Ghostbusters Universe is rich in characters and Ghostbusters World is the perfect medium to get to know these characters in a whole new dimension,” said Ivan Reitman, Principal, Ghost Corps, and Director & Producer of the original Ghostbusters movie.
The game is set to debut sometime in 2018, but you can check out the teaser trailer for it below.
