I Am Sick And Tired Of Brock Lesnar

For the last year and a half, WWE audiences have been terrorized by a man Vince McMahon seems intent on shoving down our throats. He has dominated essentially every opponent he’s squared off against. He continues to hold prime spots in the main event picture hostage, even though fans have voiced their desire for change. That man, in case you didn’t see the title there, is none other than Brock Lesnar. I am over the thought of him being champion, and wish for his reign on top to come to a swift end.

You see, for as much as people complain about Roman Reigns, the fact of the matter is, he hasn’t been shoved into the spotlight nearly as much as Brock has. For years now, Brock has garnered main event attention while other superstars have seen their programs be pushed aside. He’s been labeled a conqueror, and was given the honor of breaking The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at Wrestlemania. All for the sake of legitimizing a man who has won legit fights in the UFC and has for years been known as a real life badass. Meanwhile, the legitimacy of the main product continues to suffer as he wins a match, then disappears with the company’s main title for weeks on end.

This is the logic that has not only served to backfire against WWE’s booking, but it also adversely affects the legitimacy of the company’s top prize. This is not the WWE of the 80’s where your champ can only defend the title once every three months and it be ok. Especially when your roster is the most loaded it’s ever been, and there’s quite literally DOZENS of WWE superstars that are ready to step into the spotlight right now. Look, I know Brock Lesnar’s name holds a lot of value, but his in ring work has been trash for years now. Don’t believe me? Watch any of his matches back and name one where there was less than seven German Suplexes.

Bouncing back to another WWE golden goose for a second, I’m insanely happy that it’ll be Reigns v Lesnar at SummerSlam. I can only hope that this is the match that finally grants Reigns the vindication he’s been seeking, with a win over Brock Lesnar and the start of his first Universal Championship run. It’s high time. Roman has been busting his ass for a while now, and he may as well be rewarded with a title run. At least we know he’ll be at RAW every week, with the title, ready to defend it if necessary (Vince willing). Not to mention, Brock seems likely to jump to the UFC at any moment now, which will in turn make his appearances even more scarce should he re-sign with them as well.

There’s just too much talent in the locker room for Vince and company to be taking such a big risk with Brock right now. There’s an immense amount of quality wrestling happening on the indies right now, and NJPW and ROH are right on the cusp of becoming actual competition to the WWE. Hell, even their feeder system, NXT has been putting on a consistently better product by excelling with a “less is more” approach. Some of the biggest names from NXT who have graduated to the main roster are seemingly stuck in pointless feuds while WWE decides what to do with Brock *cough cough* Finn Balor *cough*

I for one, am totally ready to move on from Brock Lesnar. Initially, his title reign was fun an unpredictable. Now, it’s become stale and stagnant, as no new stars are being made in the process. This run has been strictly focused on Brock’s dominance, and while that’s a cool story to try to build around, it’s also done more harm than good. Here’s hoping either Roman Reigns will ‘Superman Punch’ his way to a victory at SummerSlam, or we get to see a cool cash in from Braun Strowman. Because I am sick to damn death of Brock Lesnar, and I want him to go away.
