iPhone Finally Available On Prepaid Carrier

Yes, you read that correctly. Beginning June 22nd, the world’s most popular smartphone will be making it’s debut on a prepaid carrier for the first time ever. Cricket Wireless is the lucky winner of the no contract iPhone sweepstakes, but the biggest takeaway here is that T-Mobile remains the biggest loser. I would feel highly offended about the fact that Apple sells an unlocked GSM iPhone, AT&T continues to benefit from a subsidized iPhone, as well as Verizon and now Sprint. T-Mobile on the other hand has to sit back and watch idly as everyone else reaps big postpaid adds, revenue, and data sales as they are left to pick through the preowned mass of iPhones that most customers bring to them.

Cricket users will have access to a $55 all-you-can-eat package, which of course will include unlimited talk, text, and data with users getting throttled after 2.3 GB of data usage. There will be two models available at launch being the 8GB iPhone 4 which will retail at $399 and the 16GB iPhone 4S for $499.
