The iPhone SE 2 Will Look Like The iPhone 8 And Perform Like The iPhone 11

According to a new report from 9to5Mac, the next iPhone SE will drop sooner than expected. Famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is expecting Apple to release the next model in Q1 of 2020. The most interesting piece in the report claims that the iPhone SE 2 will essentially have the looks of the iPhone 8, and the performance of the iPhone 11. The last SE did virtually the same thing, with having the shell of the iPhone 5S and the internals from the iPhone 6S.

The SE models are always popular among Apple users largely because they are extremely budget-friendly. The next iPhone SE is expected to continue this trend, but Kuo didn’t speculate on a specific price. The current target customer for the new SE will be those mulling over buying a teen their first iPhone, or those who have yet to upgrade from the iPhone 6. With Apple phasing the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus out of its iOS upgrade life cycle, a new SE would be the perfect opportunity to score a new device without much financial commitment.

When and if the new iPhone SE releases, it will almost definitely cannibalize sales of the iPhone 8. After the iPhone 11 was announced, the iPhone 8 was dropped to $449, but could be discontinued altogether with the announcement of another iPhone SE.
