WWE 2K18 Will Be Available On Nintendo Switch

2 min read

If you’re a wrestling fan with a Nintendo Switch, we have fantastic news for you. Today, WWE announced their return to Nintendo with a Switch version of their upcoming 2K18 video game. This marks the first time in about 5 years the wrestling company has made a game for Nintendo consoles. There’s been no official word as to why there has been a lack of titles for Nintendo systems, but I’d have to imagine system capability had a large role. The past few Nintendo systems have struggled to capitalize on the popularity of sports titles, largely because of their lack of HD compatibility.

WWE’s announcement today marks a momentous swing for the Switch, which has become wildly popular since it was released. With the WWE as popular as it’s ever been, all eyes are now turning to the developers behind the game. Last year’s 2K17 garnered both praise and criticism from gamers. Most of the criticism came as a direct result of overly complicated gameplay, and glitches during gameplay that have been all too familiar with fans of the franchise. Gamers have been clamoring for an overhaul of the grappling system WWE 2K games employ, and hopefully the developers take notice of these complaints.

The wrestling community is a fiercely loyal, yet hilariously fickle one. What fans wants today, may not necessarily be what they want by the time the next PPV airs on the WWE Network. The same could be said for their video game fans. One minute we want a more realistic feeling game, the next minute we want something that’s more arcade-like. One thing is for sure, with the surge of popularity that Nintendo is experiencing right now, WWE and 2K Games couldn’t have picked a better time to return to Nintendo consoles. With what’s rumored to be the largest roster ever on a WWE video game, and overhauled gameplay and graphic mechanics, WWE 2K18 could be another breakout hit for the Nintendo switch.

WWE 2K18 will hit shelves on October 17, 2017. WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle was recently announced as bonus content for those who pre-order the game.
