WWE Payback Results

8 min read

WWE Payback was a pretty solid PPV with tons of action, and storyline progression. The way the show was booked, majority of the decisions made sense, and the push towards Summerslam is officially underway. There were no real shocking conclusions to the matchups included on the card, but I was surprised by some of the wins that occurred. There’s only 2 weeks left to build to the next “special” on the WWE Network, and there still are some unanswered questions that need to be addressed. Check out the full card results below:

Payback Kickoff Show

Bonus Match: R-Truth v. Stardust

This match was more than likely added as a time filler, as the action never really picked up. Stardust and Truth looked like they were a bit off sync, as the match dragged on a bit longer than I’d of liked, and it didn’t really accomplish much in the way of telling a story. I can see the subtle seeds of a return of Cody Rhodes being planted, but something tells me WWE will hold out for as long as possible before pulling the trigger on that one.

Winner: R-Truth by pinfall

The Mega Powers v. The Ascension

Macho Mandow and Axelmania… Why must you attempt to destroy my childhood WWE? The newly formed New Mega Powers (Damien Sandow and Curtis Axel) faced off against The Ascension in a relatively quick match that looked to serve more of a nostalgia feeling than getting anybody over. After some “hulking up” by Axel, Sandow got the hot tag and went to work on Viktor, but ultimately got cut off by Connor while attempting a top rope elbow drop. The Ascension hit The Fall Of Man, and pick up the easy win to close out the pre-show.

Winners: The Ascension
