Konami just revealed a Silent Hill remake is in development at their Press Start gaming showcase.
Silent Hill has become one of gaming’s most beloved franchises, thanks to its wildly intense gameplay and over-the-top creature design. The original Silent Hill dropped all the way back in 1999, and shook PlayStation owners to their core.
Bloober Team, who spearheaded the critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake, will once again team with Konami on this project.
While remaking the sequel to a game before working on the original is an interesting choice of order, gamers will undoubtedly eat this one up. I can’t stress enough how awesome the original Silent Hill was, and seeing it getting a modern update is tantalizing to say the least.
There have been several prequels, sequels, and reimaginations of the Silent Hill franchise, but bringing the game that started it all back into the mix is very exciting news. It’d be very hard to mess this up, but even if that happens, it can’t be any worse than that god awful movie…
There is no release date available at the time of writing, but we’d estimate that it will be released in Q4 of this year.
