American Gods Season Two Premiere Date Officially Announced

2 min read

After setbacks, staff departures, and speculation about a possible cancellation, “American Gods” long-awaited season 2 premiere date has been officially announced. For the uninitiated, “American Gods” is a hour-long drama from Starz that was adapted from Neil Gaiman’s best-selling novel. The show is centered around a war brewing between old Gods and new Gods, and one man with an unholy connection between the two. Season one ended on a high note, with the conflict between factions of Gods at hand, and left fans salivating for season two.

In February of 2018, Novelist Neil Gaiman took over show runner duties amidst a fairly complex period in the show’s development. Within the final 5 months of 2017, “American Gods” had lost its head writers and show runners in Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. Actress Gillian Anderson was also rumored to be departing, and the show was nearly shelved due to the copious amounts of uncertainty around the shows future. The second season finally wrapped earlier this year in Toronto, and the cast took to New York Comic Con to gush about the scenes they filmed for season two.

The only question that remains now is whether or not “American Gods” can maintain the momentum of the first season, and remain one of Starz best shows. Fans can expect the second season to debut March 10th at 8PM on Starz. If you haven’t had the chance to catch up on season one just yet, you’re in luck. Starz will be airing a “Holy Day Binge” on Saturday December 29th, starting at noon, airing all episodes from season one. All episodes are currently available on the Starz app to stream.

“American Gods” was originally written by Neil Gaiman in 2001, and has been the recipient of several accolades including Hugo, Nebula, and Bram Stoker awards for best novel.
