Daniel Bryan Officially Relinquishes The Intercontinental Title

In what has to be the most heartbreaking moment in his career, Daniel Bryan officially vacated the Intercontinental Title moments ago during Monday Night Raw. Bryan started off by saying how jarring it was to be stripped of his (then) WWE World Heavyweight Championship just weeks after winning it. He went on to say that while it was very unfortunate, he understood why it was done. Bryan then went on to say that he’d recently had an MRI done and the doctors told him that he could be out for weeks, months, or even indefinitely.

From there, Daniel Bryan went on to say that the WWE Universe deserved a fighting champion. He said the Universe deserved Wade Barrett, they deserved Dolph Ziggler, and they deserved Dean Ambrose in the ring fighting for the Intercontinental Championship. Such a classy move by Bryan, when it seemed like WWE would’ve been content with keeping the title on him until at least after Money In The Bank. Even with the title off TV Daniel Bryan still remained extremely over with wrestling fans, and I’d have to imagine that this is a pretty big blow to the upper midcard scene in WWE. It’s especially disheartening since both times that Daniel Bryan has held a major title in WWE recently, he’s had to give it up after only a few weeks of holding it.
