Dragon Ball ‘Project Z’ Is The Dragon Ball Game We’ve Always Wanted
2 min readBandai Namco has announced plans for a brand new Dragon Ball game headed to consoles this year. The game is tentatively titled ‘Dragon Ball: Project Z’ and will recount the events from the Dragon Ball Z anime. The difference with this title though, is the story will not be strictly a fighter, but instead an RPG set in the Dragon Ball Z universe.
Yes guys. This is not a drill. You read that correctly. A fully open world, RPG Dragon Ball Z video game. That means you’ll get to relive every major moment from the series in epic video game form. The game will unfold through the eyes of Goku, and will revisit his narrative through battles, and challenging quests. The developers behind Project Z are promising “the most dramatic and epic telling of the Dragon Ball Z story, to date.”
For those who are uninitiated, Dragon Ball Z contains some of the most important story arcs in the franchise. Dragon Ball Z debuted on Japanese TV station Fuji TV all the way back in 1989, and ran through 1996. It was then dubbed for air in the United States, Canada, Europe, and other countries. In it, we were introduced to Goku, a formidable warrior with an alien heritage. He was initially sent to Earth as an infant to conquer it, but instead suffered a brain injury and forgot about his mission. There’s so many cool moments for the game to reimagine, I can’t foresee it being boring. Moments like Vegeta and Piccolo transitioning from rivals to allies, The Cell Games, and the Buu saga are massive moments within the Dragon Ball Z universe.
Details surrounding the game are still incoming, but we do have a hot announce trailer to hold us over. Check out the teaser trailer below!
