Google TV Streamer Review

2 min read

I finally got my hands on the all-new Google TV streamer, and I have to admit, it’s a solid upgrade over the OG Chromecasts. If you’re still rocking that old Chromecast with Google TV, you might want to sit down for this. We’re about to break down everything you need to know about the Google TV Streamer, from the sleek new design to its improvements in performance.

Performance Boosts: From Lagging To Lightning

First off, the old Chromecast could get a little… laggy. Especially when trying to load up some 4K goodness. But this new streamer? Forget about it. We’re talking about a serious performance boost. They’ve bumped up the RAM from 4GB to 8GB, which is double what the old one had – and it makes a world of difference. Navigating menus is smoother than butter, apps load up in a snap, and even demanding 4K HDR content plays flawlessly. No more buffering, no more spinning wheels of death. Just pure, unadulterated streaming pleasure.

Storage Space: More Room For Activities

Speaking of upgrades, they’ve also doubled the storage! Remember when you had to constantly delete apps to make room for new ones? Yeah, those dark days are over. Now you’ve got 32GB to play with, so you can download all your favorite streaming apps, games, and whatever else floats your boat.

Remote Control: New Magic Wand

Let’s talk about the remote. The remote gained a few major upgrades making it another small but mighty upgrade over the OG Chromecast with Google TV. It’s taller, which makes it easier to hang on to, and the buttons are all ever so slightly larger than before. I’m also a huge fan of the decision to move ALL the remote buttons to the front of the remote. The volume buttons now rest on the front of the remote, right next to the assistant and mute buttons. There’s also a new mappable button that you can designate to open a specific app, switch inputs, or access a smart device.

Price Point: Is It Worth It?

Okay, let’s get down to brass tacks. The new Google TV streamer is priced at $99. It’s a bit more expensive than the original Chromecast, but trust me, the performance improvements and the upgraded remote make it worth every penny.

So, there you have it. The new Google TV streamer is a serious upgrade. If you’re looking for a worthy successor to your old Chromecasts, this is the device you need. Go check out my full video review on YouTube for all the details, and let me know in the comments what you think!
