Marvel Is Returning To Hall H At SDCC, But Not In The Way You’d Expect

2 min read

For years, Marvel has held down the moniker of “must see panel” during San Diego Comic Con. Their Hall H panels had reached legendary status, with jaw-dropping moments happening during their tenure. All the way back in 2007, fans were treated to the trailer to Iron Man. The Avengers fully assembled for the first time in Hall H. Tom Hiddleston appeared on stage as Loki, and years later, Josh Brolin was revealed as Thanos. There have been several high-profile surprises from Marvel in Hall H. It’s great that they’re returning this year, but it may not be in the way you’d expect.

Marvel was the only company that consistently did large scale Hall H panels right. They continued their hot streak all the way through 2018, at which point they decided to completely forgo Hall H. There were rumors that Marvel would be permanently moved to Disney’s ‘D23 Expo’ and their time at SDCC had come to a close. We now know that to be just a rumor, as Marvel has announced plans to make a triumphant return to SDCC, and will once again inhabit the hallowed grounds of Hall H.

While their return is a momentous one, it won’t be in the way they’ve normally shown up. There won’t be any mention of the next big entry into the MCU. Instead, Marvel will focus on two other properties that generate enough buzz on their own. The first being a spotlight on upcoming Marvel videogames, and the other being their wildly popular Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel is slated to reveal details on the upcoming Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, Iron Man VR, and of course the Marvel’s Avengers. Each game will certainly get the spotlight treatment, with Marvel promising panel exclusives and unannounced surprises. The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D panel will have more of a traditional panel vibe as most of the cast and crew will discuss season 6, and what fans can expect from season 7.

Despite the fact that there aren’t currently plans to unveil any Phase 4 news from the MCU, Marvel’s Hall H schedule will still be pretty solid. The Avengers game itself has been a topic of interest for years now, and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D has been a rating juggernaut for years over on ABC. This is the first time Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D will be in Hall H, so expect the panel to be absolutely epic.
