Oculus Announces New Headset And Surprise Partnership

1 min read

Just days before E3, the team behind Oculus announced their newest VR headset along with a surprising new partner. We’d all been waiting to hear or see something new from Oculus, as they had been teasing something major for quite some time now. At a press event today, Oculus unveiled the final, retail-ready version of their Oculus Rift VR headset, and a next-gen input system they call Oculus Touch. The Oculus Rift headset is the most ambitious project we’ve seen in quite a while, aimed at bringing true-to-life virtual reality into the homes of consumers everywhere.

The craziest part about today’s event is the revelation that the Oculus will ship with an Xbox One game controller as part of a new partnership between the two companies. In addition to that, Xbox One games will be playable on the Oculus Rift at launch. The Xbox controllers will function through the headset by way of the wireless adapter recently announced by Microsoft. The games will stream to the Oculus headset, but will require the recently announced wireless adapter for Xbox, along with Windows 10. Check out the reveal video below and let us know what you think in the comments!
