Apple announced a host of new updates to iMessage in an effort to make communicating with those you care about even smoother. For starters, Apple is introducing mentions, and inline replies to group messages. Now, instead of trying to figure out who the intended target of a message was, you can mention specific members of a thread. Think of it as an @ mention on Twitter, but inside your texts.

You can also pin up to nine of your conversations to the top of iMessage. This is awesome because it’ll allow you to always be able to access your favorite or most frequent conversations with minimal effort. Hate getting notified every time someone posts in your group thread? With iOS 14 you’ll be able to disable notifications unless you are SPECIFICALLY mentioned. Finally.

The addition of inline responses will also help make sure your conversation flows smoother than before. With inline responses, you can now respond to a single message instead of addressing the whole group. You can also view the inline responses in their own respective thread for a more focused view.
