The Nexus One (Google Phone) Will Be $530 Without Contract

If you’ve been wondering if you’ll be able to afford the elusive Nexus One when it hits the scene on its rumored January 5th release date, here are some leaked images that may help you out. This also assumes that you somehow get in on the rumored invite-only purchase opportunity on the 5th. Images provided to Gizmodo from an anonymous tipster show that the price will be $529.99 on its own, and $179.99 with a T-mobile contract.
Yes, the phone will still be unlocked, but the GSM 3G frequency that the Nexus One uses does still tie you somewhat to a carrier (T-Mobile) in order to use the phone to its fullest. Of course, it can be used with AT&T in the US, but you will probably only be able to use EDGE for data. 3G or no 3G, this is still a game changer in the States, as new phones are primarily exclusively-gripped in the fists of our wireless carriers.
There’s no word if Google will come up with a CDMA version of the Nexus One for all of our Sprint and Verizon friends, but who knows? They’ve been pretty mysterious about this whole thing thus far.
