WWE Hall of Famer William James Myers better known as George “The Animal” Steele has passed away at the age of 79. Steele’s trademark green tongue, hairy wrestling bod, and unexpected heel antics made him a crowd favorite. Steele had been in and out of hospice for the past year. Prior to his days in the ring, Steele received his Master’s Degree from Central Michigan University and became a high school teacher and wrestling coach. Steele’s first performance in WWE started in 1967 and he continued for over 20 years to captivate the audience working under such managers as The Grand Wizard, Freddie Blassie, Capt. Lou Albano and Mr. Fuji. We send our sincere condolences to Steele’s family and fans. He will truly be missed.
