Imaginarium is Looking to Bring a New Comic Convention to Michigan
2 min readImaginarium is a large-scale event production company with a few rapidly growing comic conventions under its belt. Tampa Bay Comic Con being their largest, was started in 2010. It has grown exponentially and now they hold the attendance record for the Tampa Convention Center. Imaginarium is also responsible for Indiana Comic Con and San Francisco Comic Con. Indiana Comic Con and San Francisco Comic Con attendance range from 20,000-25,000 so they are very healthy mid-range conventions.
They all seem to have an excellent variety of guests, artists, vendors, and panels. Imaginarium doesn’t have plans on stopping there though, and that’s the exciting part. They will be debuting an Atlanta Comic Con July 13-15, 2018, at the Georgia World Congress Center and a Michigan Comic Con which will debut on August 17-19, 2018 at the Cobo Center in Detroit. The announcement of a new Michigan Comic Con really excites me, especially knowing it is going to be held at Cobo. Michiganders have been dying for a comic con to call Cobo their home. There were talks of Motor City out growing the Suburban Showplace and moving to Cobo but it was strictly a rumor and the Suburban Showcase has expanded since.
Motor City Comic Con had a record numbers of about 55,000 in 2017. New Cons are always nice when done properly and can provide a small con feel with big con guests.
