This Is The Samsung Galaxy S8

Galaxy S8 Leak

Noted gadget leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (OnLeaks), took to Twitter today to reveal renders of the upcoming Galaxy S8. Samsung’s latest flagship looks to be embracing the future and moving towards a more modernized design. The render appears to show a phone that has all but eliminated the bezels on either side of the device. Much like the Xaomi Mi Mix smartphone that was released earlier this year, the S8 appears to shake up the design game by increasing the screen size while maintaining a relatively small form factor.

OnLeaks has been super accurate with his leaks as of late. If I had to guess, I’d say we’re looking at more than a render, and something that closely resembles the final design. On the inside, the S8 is rumored to have 4GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage, and a Snapdragon 835 processor inside. Samsung is also including a pretty solid 3,000 mAh battery to improve overall battery life on the device. Samsung most notably spent a considerable amount of time (and money) to develop a special team to insure the battery will be as safe and efficient as possible.

According to Hemmerstoffer, there will be two different models of the Galaxy S8 when it launches. We’ll get the standard Galaxy S8 and a new Galaxy S8 Plus, effectively killing off the Edge series phones. There’s been no word as to whether or not there will also be an Active model of the S8, but I’d have to assume there will be. The S8 looks awesome in renders, but I’ll withhold final judgement until I get the chance to check one out in the flesh.

Samsung has a huge hill to climb after the massive dumpster fire that was the Note 7 launch. With the introduction of the S8, they appear to be primed to climb right back into position to compete directly with the iPhone.

Update: This article was updated to correct the source from the leaks. Originally we credited Evan Blass for the leaks, when it was Steven Hemmerstoffer.
