Apple Granted An Extension In Court Ordered Unlocking Case

Tuesday evening, Apple received an order from a federal court telling them they had to assist the FBI in breaking into one of the phones belonging to one of the shooters in the San Bernardino case. The following day, Apple CEO Tim Cook published a well written letter to Apple customers and the entire tech community that expressed their intentions to fight the order. The initial order gave Apple five days from receipt to comply, but it looks like they’ll have a bit more time on their hands to come to a decision.

The new deadline for compliance is set for February 26th, and it appears that Apple will more than likely use all the time they have to gather resources. With the already expressed intention to fight the court order, Apple will more than likely file some sort of legal paperwork in the next few days, outlining their plan of attack. In the meanwhile, other giant tech firms have began showing support for Apple. Google CEO Sundar Pichai, WhatsApp Founder Jan Koum, and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey have all publicly announced their intent to stand with Apple.
