AMC Releases Season 8 Trailer For ‘The Walking Dead’
2 min readThe cast and crew of AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ invaded Comic Con Friday, holding a panel inside of the storied Hall H. While the panel mostly reflected on the highs and lows of last season, the real star was the new trailer for season 8. Fans have been waiting since April to get a hint of what’s to come for Rick and company. Today, we had some of those questions answered through what was an unusually action packed trailer.
We all know that Rick and Negan are headed for a collision course, and the trailer wastes no time acknowledging that. Within the first few seconds, we hear Negan tell a very panicked Father Gabriel he hopes he’s “wearing his shitting pants.” From there, the trailer takes a familiar tone, slowing down the pace before suddenly thrusting us into the apex of the conflict. Everyone is involved, everyone is fighting, and there’s an unmistakable tension present throughout. This is also the first time we get to see Negan in a moment of weakness, as he looks to be uncontrollably frustrated for a micro second, slamming Lucille on a desk.

Perhaps the most interesting piece from the trailer comes at the very end. It looks like Rick is awakening from another coma, only this time he’s much older, and apparently using a cane now. Perhaps this Kirkman and gang’s way of teasing old man Rick from the comics after the war ends. Or it could potentially be a dream sequence that has Rick living out an alternate reality. Either way, I’m really curious to see how everything shakes out by the conclusion for season 8.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, October 22nd. Check out the trailer for season 8 above, and let us know what you think in the comments below!
