Josh Brolin Will Play Cable In Deadpool 2

2 min read

The news broke a few hours ago that Fox had finally cast an actor to play Cable in Deadpool 2. The name may come as a bit of a shock though, as he’s already a pretty major character in another Marvel franchise. Josh Brolin has been cast in the role of Cable in the upcoming Deadpool sequel. Brolin is also currently voicing the intergalactic conqueror known as Thanos. This will be the first time in recent memory that an actor has been cast as two different characters, in two different franchises, from two different studios.

The front-runner for the role of Cable was rumored to have been Michael Shannon. Brolin’s casting comes essentially out of left field, as he hadn’t been mentioned as a previous contender for the role. Cable is the son of Cyclops, the leader of the X-Men. Cable originally comes from the future to help prevent the spread of a disastrous disease, and to kill Apocalypse. His back story is a long and complicated one, but one thing is for certain – he is a certified bad ass. It will be interesting to see how Deadpool and Cable will interact, as they are both stark contrasts of themselves. Deadpool is as much an agent of chaos as he is deadly, while Cable is a bit more structured and controlled. Both men are deadly in their own right, and will be joined by an equally awesome female mercenary that goes by the name Domino.

The cast of Deadpool 2 is shaping up to be a pretty awesome one. Ryan Reynolds is reprising his role as Deadpool, Atlanta star Zazie Beetz playing the role of Domino, and now Brolin as Cable. David Leitch will take the helm as director for Deadpool 2, after directing the hit action flick, John Wick 2. Production on Deadpool 2 is slated to start in June, and Brolin’s Thanos character will debut in Avengers: Infinity War next year.
