AT&T Requires You To Fulfill Your 2 Year Contract Before Allowing Upgrades

Following in the footsteps of Verizon Wireless (as they usually do), AT&T announced today that they too, will begin requiring customers to complete the ENTIRE 2 years of their contract before they’re allowed to upgrade again. This move is surely going to upset a ton of AT&T customers, but the truth is, this will slowly become the industry standard. With Verizon leading the charge, AT&T following their lead, T-Mobile not offering any subsidies anymore, and Sprint’s policies likely changing with whoever buys them out, this leaves the customer with even fewer choices. In my opinion, these are but a few moves that will eventually lead to all carriers abandoning subsidized business models. With more and more customers migrating to prepaid carriers are left to look for more ways to capitalize on crunching your wallets.
