‘Jurassic Park’ Gets Remade By Fans For 25th Anniversary
2 min readJurassic Park is widely regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. It was a first of its kind, featuring a who’s who of Hollywood stars and ground-breaking CGI elements. Jurassic Park centered around a theme park whose main attraction featured real-life dinosaurs made from a mix of fossilized DNA and genetic breeding. One of the parks lead programmers hatches a plan to steal some of the dino-DNA and sell it to a rival, and that’s where the action really takes off. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the release of ‘Jurassic Park.’ The film would go on to gross over $1 billion dollars worldwide in theaters.
Back in January, Branding Studio Tongal and Universal partnered to invite fans to participate in a one-of-a-kind marketing opportunity. Jurassic Park fans were encouraged to record themselves recreating some of the films most iconic moments. After receiving hundreds of submissions from over 29 countries, Tongal and Universal decided to feature most of the submissions in weekly #TBT posts across the Jurassic Park social media channels. Now, they’ve taken those same submissions and stitched them all together in a rather epic fan-made recreation of the original film.
Both studios are now releasing that project to the masses in honor of the 25th anniversary of Jurassic Park. I got a chance to check it out for myself, and I must admit, it’s pretty sweet. Chuck full of nostalgia, and featuring bits from the actual film interlaced with fan submissions, this is a definite must watch for fans of the franchise. Some of the submissions are goofy, some of them serious, and others are outright hilarious, but they’re all good.
