2K Games and WWE revealed the cover athlete for the latest installment in the WWE 2K series. Previous speculation had Roman Reigns pegged as being the man this year, but WWE pulled a major swerve and tossed none other than the Beast Incarnate himself, Brock Lesnar on the cover. The choice is an interesting one, as Lesnar has been absent on WWE programming since decimating Dean Ambrose at Wrestlemania 32.

On one end, putting Brock on the cover doesn’t really make a ton of sense, because he hasn’t been in a impactful role within WWE since Hell In A Cell last year. On the other hand, there is no athlete more polarizing than Brock Lesnar right now, and with him making an appearance UFC 200 in July, there’s no bigger cross marketing opportunity for both companies than having him on their products. Brock is already appearing in commercials for UFC 200.

The reveal trailer showcases Brock getting ready to head into a fight, but the lines are blurred as to whether or not it’s a WWE ring or an (implied) Octagon. Paul Heyman masterfully narrates while the viewer is treated to several visuals of the fictional ‘Suplex City’ where Brock serves as your mayor. Check out the reveal trailer above and get your eyes on the first look at the WWE 2K17 cover featuring Brock Lesnar (it’s not fun unless you say it in Heyman’s voice).
