Google Nexus Tablet Unveiled

After weeks of speculation, Google took the wraps off it’s rumored Nexus tablet today at I/O. The tablet is designed by Asus, and features a solid 7 in. display, a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of Ram, and Google’s latest version of the Android, aptly titled Jelly Bean (4.1). Starting at $199 for the 8GB model, and $249 for the 16GB model, the Nexus 7 aims to reclaim some of the market share Google lost when the hot selling Kindle Fire launched. Whether it has enough umph to go toe to toe with the current tablet champ, the iPad remains to be seen. As an Android guy, I have to admit that finally seeing the Nexus 7 for myself, I was a bit underwhelmed. It appears as if Google and Asus knew they had no solid chance of getting after the iPad, and this was built solely to compete with the Kindle Fire. Either way, at $199 for a quad-core tablet running Google’s latest OS technically isn’t a completely raw deal.

What’s your thoughts on the Nexus 7? Is this a must have, or does the Kindle Fire still seem more attractive?
