The Boring Co. Will Begin Production On Real-Life Legos
2 min readFirst flamethrowers, now Legos. Elon Musk’s Boring Company is all set to begin production on real-life Legos you can use to build things. Yes, you read that correctly. The blocks will be made from actual rocks that have been collected during the company’s excavations. They will be interlock-able, and have a “precise surface” finish that could be used as housing material. Initially, they’ll be sold in kits that users can recreate some of the most famous structures in history like the Sphinx or ancient Egyptian pyramids.
The most interesting aspect about these bricks, are the possibility that they could potentially be used to build affordable houses. According to Elon Musk, they are seismic rated, which means they can withstand tremors and earthquakes. That’s pretty impressive for materials that come from tunneling. The bricks are center bored too which means they’ll be both sturdy and lightweight. Musk also implied that using these bricks, a team of two could build the outer structure of a house “in a day or two.”
New Boring Company merch coming soon. Lifesize LEGO-like interlocking bricks made from tunneling rock that you can use to create sculptures & buildings. Rated for California seismic loads, so super strong, but bored in the middle, like an aircraft wing spar, so not heavy.

The Boring Company will begin selling these bricks “soon,” but there’s been no official word on when or how much they’ll cost. Speaking for myself, I’m pretty pumped to see some real world structures built with these bricks. Seeing that they are both sturdy and light will bring several possibilities to what people decide to create with them. Elon Musk is continually pushing the limits of how modern science and ingenuity can benefit us all, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
