The Trailer For DC’s ‘Titans’ Features A Very Angsty Robin
2 min readThe trailer for the new DC Comics series ‘Titans’ is finally here and I’m feeling a little weird about it. For starters, ‘Titans’ is a brand new series featuring characters from the ever-popular ‘Teen Titans GO!’ cartoon. The show will feature all the heroes you’ve come to love: Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy, and Raven. Unlike the overly colorful, cartoon version, the TV show will be insanely dark, and gritty.
In the trailer, we see Dick Grayson (Robin) all grown up and working as a detective in a police department (Gotham PD?). From there, we get a small glimpse into the narrative of the show. Crime is still rampant, and wherever there is crime, there must be heroes. This is where the most startling turn of the trailer occurs. While confronting some no good evil-doers, Robin makes it bluntly obvious that he is not like his mentor, Batman. Within the first minute of the trailer, we see Robin using a gun, and he drops an insanely angsty line when asked about the Caped Crusader.
Whoa. Easy there, Dick…
The dude has turned into a full-blown, rifle firing, neck snapping, foul-mouthed badass. Ladies and gentlemen, this is not the Robin we have all grown to know and love. DC has made it clear, that they are going to go full tilt with distinguishing the shows on their DC Universe streaming service. From the looks of this trailer, they will most certainly accomplish that, and it looks like we’ll get more blood and gore here, versus the very TV friendly conflicts we’re used to.
DC Universe is a subscription based streaming service by DC Comics that will essentially put their entire library in the palm of your hands. It’ll be available across several devices including Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, and Android TV (Is that still a thing?) Fans can subscribe to one of two plans. A monthly option for $7.99/month or an annual pass which will cost $74.99 a year. The annual option comes with the same benefits as the monthly plan, but also grants subscribers 3 additional months free, and “premium annual member benefits and rewards.”

Listen, this is fully dark and interesting. DC is becoming better slowly in contrast to Marvel. I am not ready for this Robin though.
