The Game Of Thrones season 6 finale may have been the absolute best episode so far. Top to bottom, it was an action packed episode that answered several fans burning questions, while leaving some for next season. Sunday’s episode titled “The Winds Of Winter” let viewers know that Winter was indeed here, as there was a cold, unsettling vibe to the episode right from the beginning. There were tons of deaths, betrayals, alliances, and of course more Lannister treachery than most can handle. These are the biggest questions remaining as we head into Season 7 next year
Where In The World Is Gendry?
Way back in season one, Ned Stark discovered Robert Baratheon’s bastard son Gendry working as an apprentice blacksmith shortly after arriving in King’s Landing. Fearing that Joffrey would soon kill him, Gendry is shipped off to join the Night’s Watch on the Wall. He never makes that journey though as he ends up getting captured by the Brotherhood Without Banners, and eventually sold to Melissandre. While imprisoned by Stannis and Melissandre, Davos Seaworth secretly releases him and puts him in a row boat on the way back to King’s Landing. This is the last we’d ever see of Gendry, but one has to imagine that he’s bound to show back up as the house of Baratheon is essentially extinct without him.
Who Is Going To Kill Cersei?
Ok…. Cersei showed the world last night exactly how committed she is to maintaining the Lannister name, and keeping them in power and near the Iron Throne. She’s become so obsessed with remaining in power, she wiped out everyone from the Sparrows, to all the Tyrells, and several hundred innocent bystanders in one fell swoop. Using Wildfire, she essentially leveled an entire Sept, forced her son to watch, which in turn caused him to commit suicide. Cersei has become the new Mad King, and will wipe out anyone standing in her way. According to an old prophecy though, she will be killed by the Valonqar, which means “little brother” in Valerian. While this could mean she could meet her demise by the hands of Tyrion, it’s more likely her BrotherLover Jaime will be the one to end her life, much like he had to kill the Mad King.
Are The Starks Finally Back?
After finally vanquishing Ramsay, Jon Snow and Sansa Stark were free to take back their home in Winterfell. Meanwhile Arya made good on another name from her list, as she gave Walder Frey another hole in the face using some pretty sweet Many Faced God magic. Bran is starting to come into his own as he is becoming more comfortable being the new Three-Eyed Raven. It appears at some point we may actually be treated to a Stark sibling reunion of sorts, but with the luck this family seems to have, tragedy may be just around the corner.
Is Lady Stoneheart Finally Going To Appear Next Season?
All signs are pointing to yes, but there’s no sure way of knowing. The Brotherhood Without Banners play a pretty large role in her reemergence, and her storyline in the books is almost too big to ignore. There seemed to be too many references surrounding the events of the Red Wedding and River Run (Lady Catlyn Stark’s home) for her not to be lurking in the shadows somewhere. With The Hound recently linking up with The Brotherhood, it makes sense for the story to come full circle, as in the books The Brotherhood Without Banners pledge their allegiance to her and go through killing anyone who participated in the Red Wedding Or has allegiance to The Freys, Boltons, or Lannisters. With the sudden rebuilding phase of Winterfell, perhaps we will indeed see Lady Stoneheart before all is said and done.
