Netflix Potentially Developing A Punisher Spinoff With Jon Bernthal

1 min read

Former Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal may be on his way to having his own Netflix series if this news pans out.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel and Netflix could be expanding their already successful relationship by rolling out another exclusive series. The hero this time around? None other than your favorite anti-hero himself, The Punisher.

Bernthal has already signed on to play Frank Castle in season 2 of Daredevil, and depending on how negotiations go, he could see himself permanently moved into a starring role. Should this turn out true, that’ll make six Marvel series set to air on Netflix along with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.

I’m pulling for Jonny B, as his last series didn’t pan out so well. Back in 2013, Bernthal was attached to another Frank Darabont produced show, Mob City after departing from his role as Shane Walsh on The Walking Dead. Mob City lasted all of one season before getting the axe, and effectively ending Bernthal and Darabont’s fairly successful partnership. Hopefully with the backing of Marvel and Netflix’s massive wallets, The Punisher won’t befall the same fate.

Check out Bernthal in Daredevil Season 2 airing March 18th exclusively on Netflix.
