Intergender Matches Are A Thing

No. I’m not talking about Andy Kaufman style intergender matches. I’m talking full-on, blow by blow, dudes wrestling chicks, and it’s incredible. In Lucha Underground, everyone is treated as an equal (Except Matanza, that guy is a monster), and as such, the ladies get to mix it up with the men. Surprisingly enough, whenever it happens, it naturally works. The announcers don’t emphasize the match as being man vs woman, rather competitor vs competitor, and the women totally hold their own. In fact, Lucha Underground did the most progressive thing ever, and crowned a woman as their world champion. When was the last time you heard of that happening? Go ahead…..I’ll wait. By leveling the playing field for everyone, LU makes for a more compelling watch, because anything truly can happen in the temple.
