Google Now Gets Updated With Search By Camera Function And New Voice Actions

Users of the Android JellyBean OS may have noticed an update for Google Now that began to roll out earlier today. Enhancements include a brand new ‘search with camera’ function that allows users to get expanded info about attractions and locations using their camera in museums and other tourist attractions. There’s also a new card format that allows users to check out the weather not only in their home state, but also to a location to which they may be traveling soon. There’s also a a few new voice actions included as well. Can’t think of the name of a song? Simply ask Google “What’s this song playing” and it will identify it. Maybe you want to scan a barcode and are too damn lazy don’t want to launch that sweet new barcode app you just downloaded, tell Google to “scan this barcode” and you’re in. As simple as that.
If you haven’t already been notified of the availability of the update, then head on into Google Play and manually update Google Now (requires Android 4.1).
