Nintendo Announces Super Famicom Classic For Japan
2 min readEarlier today, Nintendo revealed a follow-up to the wildly successful NES Classic. The Super Nintendo Classic will hit shelves in the US in September, boasting an impressive library of games from the SNES. What about fans in Nintendo’s other home country of Japan? Well, Japanese gamers can also rejoice! Nintendo is bringing a slightly modified version to you as well. The Nintendo Classic: Super Famicom will release a week after the SNES Classic, and will also sport 21 pre-loaded games.
The Japanese version will include Panel de Pon (Tetris Attack in the US), Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, and Super Street Fighter II. Most of the title swaps are essentially there to better align with titles that were more popular in Japan than they were in the US. Star Fox 2 remains the only title on both systems that will be seeing its first ever global release.
The Nintendo Classic: Super Famicom will hit shelves in Japan on October 5th, 2017. The suggested retail price is set at 7,980 yen (about $71 Dollars). Check out the full list of included titles below:
